Dustin Mattiza, AIA

Managing Partner

Dustin is the Managing Partner of Avail Development and is responsible for overseeing the development and design process for Avail. His primary markets in Texas include Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, and other major MSAs throughout the sunbelt. Over the past 14 years, Dustin has been specializing in ground-up commercial, retail, mixed-use master plans, and multi-family developments; partnering with institutional equity such as DivcoWest, PGIM, National Property Advisors (NPA), Iron Point, Argosy, Sweid & Sweid, and CrowdStreet; and, developing a range of product types from a 66-level mixed-use tower, mid-rise wraps/podiums, garden-style, build-to-rent single-family, and hotel conversions.

As the Executive Vice President at Presidium, Dustin managed the development of over 1,300 units and another 661 units at Kairoi Residential, totaling over 3 million GSF and $2.5 billion in value. Dustin also held positions in design and construction administration, delivering over 2 million square feet of various commercial project types at Gensler. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Texas State University, a Master of Architecture from Texas A&M University, and is a licensed architect.

 

Derrick Mattiza

Partner - Managing Director of Construction

Derrick Mattiza is a Partner at Avail Development with more than 15 years of experience overseeing multi-family construction and development execution across major US growth markets, including Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver, and Charlotte.

He is responsible for overseeing construction operations from preconstruction through delivery, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and field execution. Over the course of his career, he has led projects ranging from garden-style communities to dense urban high-rise developments and has managed a development portfolio with a projected completed value exceeding $2 billion, encompassing more than 5,500 units and approximately 9 million square feet. Derrick earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science from Texas A&M University and previously served in leadership roles at Kairoi Development, Harvey-Cleary Builders, and the Dinerstein Companies.

 

Connor Burt

Vice President

Connor Burt has more than seven years of real estate development experience across multi-family and mixed-use projects in high-growth markets including Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, Atlanta, and Jacksonville.

Prior to joining Avail, he was with Presidium, where he supported the development of more than 2,300 residential units and led three multi-family projects totaling 1,015 units. His experience spans garden-style, mid-rise wrap and podium, and build-to-rent developments, covering the full project lifecycle: acquisition, entitlements, design, financing, construction, lease-up, and disposition. He has also contributed to mixed-use projects with office, retail, and hospitality components and brings additional experience in capital markets through structuring and analyzing debt and equity strategies with institutional investment partners.
